Having Acer Aspire 5520 for several months, ones recently upgrade Vista to Windows 7. All runs smoothly except burning CD or DVD. At the device manager, it is reporting 2 devices in “other devices”(base system device-PCI bus 1, device 4, function 3) do not have drivers installed (code 28).
He’s already try searching Windows 7 driver for Aspire 5520 everywhere, including online through driver update but only reports that no drivers are available.
In order to resolve the problem of burn CD/DVD caused of missing Windows 7 driver after upgrade Vista to Windows 7 on Acer Aspire 5520, you can try to uninstall the “other devices” in the Device Manager. Also uninstall the CD/DVD burner drive then restart the PC computer. Windows should detect the devices and if you are lucky, it will install them.
In case there are no extra drivers for CD/DVD drive just use the default built in Windows (Microsoft) drivers.
Another solution you can use the vista driver if you install them in compatibility mode. To do that download the correct driver either 32-bit or 64-bit. If you were, then right click the installer =>properties => compatibility mode => check vista.
