Windows 7 installation on Acer Aspire 1700 suddenly stopped during process. It seems the BIOS is not compatible as the following error appear “The BIOS is not fully compatible with APCI“. Indeed, according to the Acer site actually the Acer Aspire 1700 laptop only provide XP support, it’s not support by Acer for Windows 7.
However, you can try this little tricky to make Aspire 1700 being able to runs Windows 7. Try to get the one BIOS upgrade given on the BIOS tab on Support Downloads page for that model by visit Acer sites through this downloaded page
There you can see that it’s for XP but actually it is from 2008. This means it might enable APCI so Windows 7 should be able to install.
Confirm that you need the BIOS update by comparing it to the BIOS version given you can get while doing first boot-up screen or on BIOS setup page. Check for possible APCI setting while in BIOS.
You can also download drivers to the XP desktop for better result and follow instructions to install. And now your Acer Aspire 1700 should
be ready runs Windows 7.
